Going to camp is one of the cornerstones of a 4-H member’s experience. Camp allows members to network, making forever-friends across the province and the country. We want to make sure that every 4-H member has the opportunity and means to attend camp; this is why we created the Send a Kid to 4-H Camp initiative. Colour Me Green reaches beyond our signature, annual colour run as it provides an important reinvestment into the 4-H Alberta community.
Who is qualified?
Any current 4-H Alberta member in good standing who is nominated by a current club Leader through our selection process. The nomination will consist of a member profile and a written response.
What camps are eligible for the bursary?
Any official 4-H Alberta camp, whether it is a Provincial or Regional program that runs between June 1 and February 25 of the current year. Once proof of purchase is provided, a cheque will be sent to the successful nominee.
How many bursaries are being awarded?
The total number of bursaries available varies each year. The total number available is announced the February before the submission period begins. Each bursary has a value of $150.
When can Leaders submit nominations for the bursaries?
Submissions open March 1 and close May 5 each year. Selections will be confirmed and formally announced by June 1 of each year.
How to apply
- Leaders recommend members of their clubs for the bursaries beginning March 1 by completing an online form. This will be made available in February 2018.
- Members must confirm and accept the nomination for the bursary by May 30.
- Members must notify the Colour Me Green team immediately if they are no longer able to attend a camp so another member can receive the bursary in their place.
- Proof of purchase must be submitted to the Colour Me Green team no later than one month after the end date of the camp program. No proof of purchase receipts will be accepted after March 1, so be sure to submit in advance.
Members must submit a short reflection (maximum 250 words) about their camp experience, with a photo attached to the Colour Me Green team. A photo release form must also be completed and submitted for the member.
